Compare Paper Sizes
Visual comparison of international and US paper sizes. See how A4, Letter, Legal, A3, and Tabloid compare side by side.
210×297mm
8.3×11.7in
216×279mm
8.5×11in
A4 is international standard (ISO). Letter is US standard. A4 is narrower but taller than Letter.
216×279mm
8.5×11in
216×356mm
8.5×14in
Both US sizes with same width. Legal is 3 inches taller, commonly used for contracts and legal documents.
210×297mm
8.3×11.7in
297×420mm
11.7×16.5in
A3 is exactly twice the size of A4. Two A4 sheets side by side equal one A3 sheet.
216×279mm
8.5×11in
279×432mm
11×17in
Tabloid is exactly twice the size of Letter. Also called Ledger when in landscape orientation.
210×297mm
8.3×11.7in
216×356mm
8.5×14in
A4 is narrower than Legal. Legal is significantly taller — 59mm (2.3 inches) more height.
297×420mm
11.7×16.5in
279×432mm
11×17in
Very similar sizes. A3 is wider (297mm vs 279mm), Tabloid is taller (432mm vs 420mm).
A-series paper (A4, A3, etc.) maintains the same aspect ratio across all sizes. When you fold an A3 sheet in half, you get exactly A4. When you fold A4 in half, you get A5. This makes scaling documents seamless. US sizes (Letter, Legal, Tabloid) don't follow this pattern.
